Without the critique and support of residents and civic groups, Harare would not be. Residents are working hard to claim the Harare that they want.

The city is quickly re-tracing its sunshine status following the formation of a unity government in 2008 by political parties in Zimbabwe.

Harare has already replaced some of its oldest water supply pipes, showing the results of efforts being put to revive the City by City of Harare, residents and civic groups like the Combined Harare Residents Association as well as by other supporting cities like England's Nottingham City. The supply of clean water for residents is one of the city's top priorities.
